What’s the “The Taking of Pelham 123” movie about?
Walter Garber (Denzel Washington of Training Day, Glory and Malcolm X) is an employee of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Following an investigation, he now works as a switchman for the New York underground system. His job is to ensure that traffic flows smoothly. As his day draws to a close, the Pelham 123 train comes to a halt without explanation. This is the beginning of the nightmare: Ryder (John Travolta from Saturday Night Fever and Grease), a criminal as intelligent as he is daring, has taken the train and its passengers hostage. With his three heavily armed accomplices, he threatens to execute the passengers if a huge ransom is not paid to him very quickly. Between the two men, an incredible arm wrestling match begins. Each one has his trump cards, each one has his secrets, and the face-to-face confrontation risks causing as many victims as it does damage. The race against time is on...
