Join Dr. Justin Longo and explore how artificial intelligence is transforming the research landscape -from literature reviews to data analysis. This session covers the benefits and risks of AI tools, academic integrity, responsible use, bias, and the evolving role of AI in interdisciplinary research.
Overview
The Summer Research Institute (SRI) is a professional development series hosted by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR) at the University of Regina.
Designed for both undergraduate and graduate student researchers, the SRI offers a mix of online and in-person workshops held from May through August, aimed at helping students strengthen their academic foundation and advance their research skills at any stage of their scholarly journey.
To help research students make the most of their experience, the Summer Research Institute provides engaging, practical workshops focused on building core academic competencies, boosting research confidence, and preparing students for future opportunities—whether that means transitioning into graduate studies or presenting at conferences and beyond.
Participants will:
Build essential academic and research skills
Learn to effectively communicate and present their research
Explore ethical, open, and responsible research practices
Gain hands-on exposure to research tools, platforms, and methodologies
Connect with peers, faculty, and the broader research community
Workshops are open to all undergrad and graduate student researchers at the University of Regina, including those funded through UGRA, USRA, and MITACS Globalink programs.
Whether you're just getting started or preparing to share your research with the world, the SRI is your opportunity to grow, learn, and take your work to the next level.
