Описание: NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Unissued Philles Records recording) In the stack of Phil Spector produced recordings which were not released when originally recorded but have 'Hit' written all over them, it is this lone recording by the MODERN FOLK QUARTET from September/October 1965 which really stands out. Different from his work within the Girl Group style, and the Righteous Brothers 'Blue-Eyed Soul' sound, Spector's production of the co-collaborated composition with Harry Nilsson of 'This Could Be The Night' was an adventurous, jingle-jangly, surf meets pop masterpiece. A stellar effort engineered by Larry Levine at Hollywood's Gold Star Studios, Jack Nitzsche's arrangement is played flawlessly with euphoric vigor by L.A's 'Wrecking Crew'. It appears that it was in the pipeline for a possible Philles single release as an early test pressing of the recording dates to October 1965 while another of the three known discs dates to March 1966. The song would however see the light of day as the opening theme to the music motion picture, 'The Big T.N.T. Show' which premiered in January 1966 but it seemed that the song and the movie came and went all too quickly. The Modern Folk Quartet, which was actually a quintet by the time they hooked up with Phil Spector (Cyrus Faryar, Jerry Yester, Chip Douglas, Henry Diltz and Eddie Hoh), would go down in history as possibly having one of the biggest million selling records never to be released. Sort of..... The song was eventually officially issued in 1976 in the UK on one of two 'Rare Masters' LP's containing either unreleased or obscure Phil Spector involved recordings. Since then, it has been included on various other CD collections and more notably, over the years given top status as the theme to long time Los Angeles pop icon, Rodney Bingenheimer's radio program, 'Rodney On The ROQ'.
