CARCINOID SYNDROME - FLUSHING || The main symptom of my cancer

Описание: Recently I was diagnosed with cancer. The cancer I have is called neuroendocrine cancer. For me that means a neuroendocrine tumour of the small intestines that has spread to my liver. The symptom I had that finally led to a diagnosis was flushing as a result of having carcinoid syndrome.

Carcinoid syndrome is a condition related to having a neuroendocrine tumour that is releasing high levels of hormones, usually serotonin. It is associated with having a number of symptoms. Four of the main symptoms that people seem to experience who have carcinoid syndrome are flushing, diarrhoea, rapid heart rate, and difficultly in breathing. I have only really been affected by flushing.

In this video I want to share with you what my carcinoid flushes look like, and how they feel. I found it difficult to find a lot of information regarding flushes due to carcinoid syndrome whilst I was trying to figure out what was happening to me. My hope is that this video can serve as a useful resource for individuals who might find themselves in a similar position as I was, and also for health care professions to help identify carcinoid syndrome flushes as early as possible.

This is my individual experience. People are going to have different presentations of carcinoid flushes, so keep that in mind.
