As a way to supplement her pension, she cooks, cleans, tidies, mends, washes and does school-pick ups for her clients, who include parents that don’t have family nearby, or who are estranged from their own parents.

“Some grandparents … don’t want to give up their jobs or cut back on their financial situation to help their children. They reckon they can do it on their own.”
