Many of the innovations now seen across modern catamarans started in the A-Class, including carbon masts, square-top mainsails, curved daggerboards, hydrofoils, and decksweeper sails. Today the class is split into Classic (non-foiling) and Open (foiling) divisions, both delivering extreme performance.
