This year’s lecture on “Expanding the horizons of trade and tourism on the island of Ireland” was delivered jointly by Margaret Hearty (Chief Executive of InterTradeIreland) and Alice Mansergh (Chief Executive of Tourism Ireland).
Sir George Quigley's vision of what strong economic business cooperation between the two parts of the island of Ireland can do as a vital element in any sustainable peace process is one that resonates with the Centre for Cross Border Cooperation's mission.
The Centre supports, promotes and advocates for improved North-South cooperation as an essential means of exploiting the enormous potential that businesses, public bodies, local authorities and communities in both parts of the island have to offer.
Sir George's vision saw cross-border cooperation as transcending political borders following a logic of expansive innovation and creativity that could bring mutual prosperity and increased understanding between those who engaged in such cooperation.
