Information on fast-track Spanish citizenship:
Spanish official sources
• Spanish Civil Code, Article 22 (BOE): establishes the general 10-year rule and reductions, including 2 years for Ibero-Americans, Andorra, the Philippines, Equatorial Guinea, Portugal, and Sephardic Jews.
• Ministry of Justice – “Tener la doble nacionalidad” (Dual nationality): defines “Ibero-American countries” (Spanish or Portuguese as an official language) and explicitly includes Puerto Rico.
• Administracion.gob.es (Government portal) – Nationality by residence: reiterates the 2-year route for nationals of Ibero-American countries, Andorra, the Philippines, Equatorial Guinea, and Portugal.
• MAEC (Foreign Affairs) consular pages: repeat the same 2-year eligibility framework.
Important nuance: Article 22 refers to nationals of origin from those countries. In practice, you must hold that nationality (often by birth). Merely being born there without that nationality does not trigger the 2-year reduction.
