"What About Jahan Jhuggi Wahan Makan?": Slum Residents Question The Eviction By Railway Authorities

The Supreme Court on Monday ordered the removal of nearly 48,000 slum dwellings located in safety zones along railway tracks in Delhi. These are to be removed in a phased manner within three months, the court said, while also cautioning against "interference, political or otherwise" with its order. On the other hand, the Congress today moved the Supreme Court against the demolition of the slums near railway tracks in Delhi. In the petition, Congress leader Ajay Maken said: "The removal order was passed without hearing the slum dwellers. If slums are removed, more than 2,50,000 people will be out on roads".
