HIGHLIGHTS: Chase Meidroth, Miguel Vargas Come Up BIG in Extras, Sox beat Reds (5.14.25)

Описание: The White Sox won in exciting fashion on the road thanks to a massive three-run home run from Miguel Vargas in the 10th inning to beat the Cincinnati Reds, 5-1, at Great American Ball Park.

For the fifth time this season, the White Sox started the game with an opening pitcher. Brandon Eisert tossed a scoreless first inning with one strikeout before turning it over to Jonathan Cannon, who followed with an impressive outing of his own, 6.0 scoreless innings, six strikeouts, and no walks. The bullpen trio of Jordan Leasure, Steven Wilson, and Cam Booser handled the rest.

Edgar Quero got the scoring started in the fourth inning, singling to right field to bring home Miguel Vargas who doubled off Reds starting pitcher, Andrew Abbott, the at-bat before. Quero went 3-for-4 on the night and added a defensive highlight by throwing out Connor Joe trying to steal third base in the bottom of the 8th.

The Sox held a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the ninth until Elly De La Cruz tied it up with a solo home run to right field.

But the White Sox weren’t done. In the 10th, Matt Thaiss pinch-hit for Michael A. Taylor and drew a walk. Rookie Chase Meidroth followed with a single to right-center, scoring Brooks Baldwin to put the Sox ahead 2-1. Miguel Vargas then broke the game open, launching a 373-foot home run to left-center to give the Sox a commanding 5-1 lead.

Cam Booser came in to close it out in the bottom of the 10th, striking out two to seal the win.
