If you're looking for a well-balanced, family-friendly Class C RV that offers comfort, drivability, and everyday usability, the Jayco Redhawk 24B might just be your ideal motorhome. In this full review, Big J—an industry expert with over 25 years of experience in custom RV and van builds—takes you on a detailed tour of one of the most popular compact Class C coaches on the market. With firsthand ownership experience, he shares the real-world pros, cons, and modifications that make this coach shine.
Built on the E-Series chassis and powered by Ford’s robust 7.3L Godzilla gas engine, the Redhawk 24B delivers ample power and reliability for towing and highway travel. Big J’s personal unit is upgraded with a 6-inch WeldTec Designs lift and 285/75R16 tires, giving it a commanding presence, increased clearance, and improved off-road versatility. Paired with a custom front bumper and rear storage solutions—including a spare tire mount, rear storage box, and table carrier—this Redhawk is optimized for both on-grid comfort and off-grid adventure.
Inside, the full-wall slide provides over 30 inches of expanded living space, creating a spacious and functional interior ideal for families. With sleeping capacity for up to six, a convertible dinette, cabover bunk, and rear queen bed, this layout manages to maximize every inch. Big J highlights thoughtful features like the dual sink, farmhouse-style cabinetry, wireless charging stations, and hidden under-seat storage—perfect for storing extra bedding or gear.
The integrated bathroom includes a full-size shower, sink, toilet, and MaxxAir fan for ventilation, while the galley is outfitted with a cooktop, microwave, and pantry-style drawers. Tech-wise, the Redhawk includes exterior speakers, a lighted power awning, and a swing-out TV mount for better viewing angles—plus an optional second TV location in the rear bedroom.
However, it’s not without flaws. Exterior storage is limited, and the frameless windows restrict airflow, which Big J points out as his least favorite aspect. Still, he praises the unit’s overall design, ease of driving, and livability, ranking it a 7.6 out of 10 on his RV score chart—his highest score to date.
If you're shopping for a Class C RV under 30 feet that can handle road trips, beach days, and boondocking alike, the Jayco 24B deserves a spot on your shortlist. Watch the full video to see if it checks all your boxes, and be sure to subscribe for more expert RV reviews from Big J.
