My current journaling system uses 12 different notebooks, and honestly, it's probably too many.
Right now I'm running: morning pages, dopamine diary, daily drawing, Thai learning, calligraphy and penmanship practice, lifelong learning journal, writing to think, book of quotes (my zibaldone), work catch-all, book of lists, ideas generation, and a travel log. Each one serves a specific purpose, but managing 12 notebooks is starting to feel excessive.
In this video, I'll walk through each notebook, explain what I use it for, and show how they all fit together in my wider system. Some of these are daily practices, others get used sporadically. The question I'm starting to ask is whether I actually need this many separate books or if I'm over-complicating things.
This year, I'm working on consolidating this system down. I've been inspired by the Analogy Mind channel and his one book system (link in description). The goal isn't necessarily to get down to one notebook, but to reduce the number to something more manageable, maybe three or four core books instead of 12.
If you're running multiple notebooks or thinking about how to organize your own journaling practice, this might give you some ideas. Or at least show you what happens when a system grows beyond what's practical.
