Short info: The cylinder head was already ported from the start, and the previous engine builder had used the recommended compression ratio from the camshaft manufacturer, which was quite high (not a Timo Motor camshaft).
The camshaft itself is very mild in both lift and duration. So, in this "small valve Evo," as Christoffer called it, we focused on redesigning the intake and exhaust channels while also refining the combustion chambers. However, there were quite a few compromises we couldn’t avoid. It would have been a very interesting engine with our Timo 12.2 or Timo 13.10 camshaft.
Oh, almost forgot—right now, we have a lot of orders and work, so Fred, our mannequin, had to step in. Normally, he just flexes with clothes in the office/studio, but in this video, he’s giving it his best shot. He speaks all languages, has been around the world, but... he’s a bit stiff! Let’s see if he can develop over time.
Fred actually dropped out from a German racing team at Gotland Ring because he, just like us, loves Volvo—especially RED BLOCK engines.
The closest recipe for this engine includes these products:"

Final words for this video: You can get very far with standard valves in a Volvo 530 or 531 cylinder head, as long as the machining is properly done.
Right now, there is a hysteria in the market claiming that cylinder heads must have 46/38 mm valves. However, since we also receive complete cylinder heads from other manufacturers, we see that many of them are far from reaching their full potential—which, in our opinion, should be the real reason for upgrading to larger valves.
Of course, nothing is static in engine tuning. It all depends on many factors, such as who performed the work and what components were used
