MANILA — A Chinese fighter jet and helicopter tailed a Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) aircraft conducting a maritime domain awareness flight over Bajo de Masinloc on Wednesday.
The Philippine flight aimed to verify the presence of unidentified structures in the shoal.
Commodore Jay Tarriela, PCG spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea, confirmed that the structures are not new and initial findings showed that the debris had been there since 2023, based on satellite images.
However, further verification will still be conducted, he said.
