A trio of passenger services pass this busy suburban level crossing in west Hull, close by to Hessle Road Junction where freight trains heading to/from the docks part their ways from the busy line which heads into the Paragon Interchange Railway Station in the city centre. This level crossing has a rather oddly-given name; It's on Hawthorn Avenue, yet the official name for it is 'Chalk Lane Level Crossing'. The level crossing, like the nearby one on St. George's Road, was fully renewed in 2012, and the alarms sound at a reasonable volume. A mural depicting a steam locomotive hauling a coal train amongst a few cargo ships can be seen on the side of a nearby industrial building looking onto this road.
Thanks for watching!
