Our fantastic volunteers, partners and staff installed the last three interpretive sign posts on the New York Creek Trail on Tuesday, August 20th, 2019.
Signs can be found at the trail-head off of Harvard Way, the trail-head by the Jackson School footbridge, and along the New York Creek Trail. The project is now complete and can be enjoyed by all!
Did you know?
The New York Creek touches FIVE schools in El Dorado Hills! The interpretive sign project has been a conversation for nearly five years, too between local Environmental Science teacher, Casey Rhyan and General Manager, Kevin Loewen along with EDHCSD Board member, Allan Priest. Guided by Mr. Rhyan's leadership, Oak Ridge High School students designed mock-up signs several years ago, and now those ideas have turned into the signs that serve as outdoor lab curriculum connected with the creek. To bring education outdoors, lead teachers will conduct lab activities for each grade level. Students will utilize the curriculum and the interpretive signs to conduct their science experiments! We are so thankful to bring Environmental Science ideas to life through partnerships with Oak Ridge High School, our local volunteers and community partners.
Together we educate, enrich and engage El Dorado Hills!
