FAQ:
Q: Is this HDTV any good?
A: It is a really good TV with amazing picture quality. It is right now the #1 rated HDTV on the market and it really shows.
Q: Is a 3DTV any good?
A: Having a 3DTV is an amazing experience. It will not only allow you to an appealing movie and gaming experience, but it will deffinately future-proof your setup to a certain extent.
Q: Is buying a 3DTV worth the money?
A: If you are looking to buy a new TV, you won't be dissapointed with one that is 3D capable, but if you are looking to save money you are better off looking away from 3D. It is very expensive to buy a 3D TV, and if money is the issue it is not worth it. You can be saving anywhere from a couple hundred to even a thousand dollars or more from simply buying a 2D TV, and however you may be hearing me say a lot of good stuff about 3D it is probably best to buy a 3DTV in a few years when they will be less expensive and possibly even better in quality.
Q: Why didn't you wait for glasses free 3DTV's?
A: I bought this TV with size in mind. I wanted a really big TV for my home theater before realizing that I should probably get a 3DTV as they are currently the top of the line products. After some research I saw that glasses free 3DTVs are very difficult to make large, so for a long time glasses free 3DTVs will come in sizes 20" or smaller.
Q: How are the 3D glasses?
A: The 3D glasses are not very confortable. They come with a couple of nose peices which can make them slighly more confortable, but you can still feel them there. The glasses are not unbearable, you can deffinately get a good movie experience with them on but I'm still hoping that Panasonic improves on the design soon.
Q: How are movies in 3D?
A: 3D movies are very appealing, but in all honesty I expected them to be a little better than they actually are. The depth is definitely there in the picture, but the movie will only be as good as the movie itself and not the 3D effect. A quick note to add to this is that it is near impossible to find a 3D movie on the market. The only 3D movies you are likely going to be seeing on your 3DTV for a long time are the ones that come with the TV. Even Avatar has yet to release a 3D version and most movies will likely come out in 2D months, maybe even a year or so before the 3D version hits store shelves.
Q: How are games in 3D?
A: Playing games in 3D is a very good experience. The 3D effect makes the game just a tad more fun and enjoyable. Most games, however, are not in 3D, but some are coming out in the upcoming years and hopefully more and more will come. Playing games like Call of Duty: Black Ops and Motorstorm Pacific Rift in 3D in 3D really does add to the experience.
Q: Why did you buy a 3D Blu Ray Player when the PS3 can be used as a 3D Blu Ray Player?
A: When I purchased both products, I was fully aware of the 3D support by the PS3. I bought a Blu Ray player because if you were to buy a Panasonic 3DTV, it says that it is compatible with 'select Blu Ray players' so I didn't want to risk it not working with a Sony product. Yes the PS3 does work, but I feel that 3D quality would still be better from the Blu Ray player because from research I learned that a PS3 doesn't even support the latest HDMI cable so it would need to beat around the bush in one way or another just to get 3D support, and I did not want to risk quality.
Q: Can you make a video showing some picture quality for the TV?
A: I do not have a sufficient enough camera to do so and even if I did make such a video, it would be just like watching any other video on Youtube that is showcasing 1080p resolution footage.
Q: How much did it cost?
A: The TV itself is around $4,200. Everything I bought including tax probably landed somewhere over $6,000.
If you would like specific model numbers for the products please send me a message or leave a comment.
