Summer is made for camping, and this Tesla tail tent setup turned out to be a perfect match.
We stayed at Mount Maunganui Beachside Holiday Park in Tauranga, parking right by the grass and setting up the rear tent with an inflatable mattress inside.
The setup and pack-down were quick and straightforward. Once inside, the sleeping experience felt surprisingly close to sleeping at home — enough space, good airflow, and no obvious downsides during the night. It’s a practical option for weekend trips, especially for Tesla owners who want a simple, comfortable way to camp without a full campervan.
This spot is ideal for families and short getaways, with the beach, town, and facilities all close by. Definitely a setup I’d recommend if you enjoy relaxed, flexible travel around New Zealand.
