The Torque & Vibration Reduction (TRS) subs have been designed by Paradigm Drilling Services as a solution to the problem of excessive torque encountered in mud wetted applications and in Extended Reach Drilling (ERD).
The TRS is an integral drill string component consisting of a short one piece mandrel utilising proprietary bearing technology to support a non rotating one piece sleeve. Tools can be positioned between the connections of the drill pipe, spaced one every stand, to cover the build section of the wellbore.
The use of these tools can reduce drilling torque by significant amounts (25-35%) and is also effective at reducing string transmitted vibration.
