Himanta Targets Gogoi Over Pakistan Visit | Owaisi Files Complaint Over Himanta's Rifle Video Row

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has raised questions over Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi’s past visit to Pakistan, citing alleged visa violations and travel beyond permitted cities. Sarma questioned how Gogoi visited Takshashila in Rawalpindi district, an area that also houses Pakistan Army headquarters.

Hitting back, Gogoi accused the Chief Minister of politicising national security and sitting on an SIT report for six months as it failed to establish allegations against him. He alleged the attacks were politically motivated and meant to divert attention from land-related allegations involving the Chief Minister’s family. Gogoi also objected to his family, including his minor children, being dragged into the controversy.

Meanwhile, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has filed a complaint against Himanta Biswa Sarma over a controversial video posted by the BJP Assam unit. The video, later deleted, showed Sarma purportedly aiming a rifle at two individuals identified as minorities. Owaisi said hate speech has unfortunately become normalised and earlier slammed Sarma’s remarks on “troubling Miya Muslims” as unconstitutional and divisive.
