Need for Speed 8 (Underground 2) - Bayview International with Toyota Corolla (AE86)

Описание: With Need for Speed Heat on the horizon I decided to do a quick revisit of the 21 previous NFS games leading up to the launch of Heat. Here you can see Need for Speed 8 (Underground 2), which was released in 2004 for various platforms. In this game I recorded a race on Bayview International with the Toyota Corolla AE86.

Underground 2 was the first NFS that allowed free roam on a big map and the exploration of the city was a major part of the career mode. Additional sections of the city were unlocked at certain points of the career. Some new cars were added compared to U1 (including some SUVs) and the number of tracks became a lot bigger.

Drag and Drift returned from Underground 1 and new modes were Street X and URL, which were circuit races on different types of closed tracks. NFSU 2 was also one of the last few NFS games that allowed you to watch a replay after a race.

In Underground 2 you could recharge your nitrous with certain actions but it didn't automatically recharge over time yet.

Random occurrences of rain were also new in U2 but unlike in some more recent games the rain was purely cosmetic and didn't have any impact on your driving, which was awesome.

Like all 21 main NFS games Need for Speed Underground 2 can be played on a modern PC with Windows 10 and there is also a widescreen mod for it. And since the game has a LAN mode it is also still possible to play it online with the help of third party tools like GameRanger.

Unlike U1, MW and Carbon I didn't play U2 competitively but I do know that the Corolla from this video was the best car in the game for regular races. Here you can see a competitive race at an event between two world class players from Russia:    • NFSU2 Marine 25th USSRxChis vs USSRxMrKOT ...  

I will attempt to show you all 21 existing NFS games before the release of Heat, so expect to see a video almost every day from now until the release of Heat and on some days even two. :)
