Beet Jowar Millet Crackers
I recently developed these Jowar Millet Crackers — super nutritious, packed with seeds, and so easy to make! 🌾💪 Perfect for guilt-free munching when the snack cravings hit. Crispy, flavorful, and hearty enough to actually satisfy — plus, they stay fresh for a whole month!
🌱 Beetroot Jowar Crackers (Nacho-style thickness, stays crisp for up to 1 month)
Ingredients:
• 1 medium beetroot – steamed and pureed
• 1 tbsp flaxseeds
• 1 tbsp chia seeds
• 1 tbsp pumpkin seeds
• 1 cup jowar (sorghum) flour
• 1 tsp black pepper powder
• 2 tsp garlic powder
• 1–2 tsp salt (to taste)
• 2 tbsp oil (neutral)- Used hazelnut oil
• Sesame seeds – for topping
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 180 °C (350 °F).
2. Grind seeds: In a grinder, blend flaxseeds, chia seeds, and pumpkin seeds into a fine powder.
3. Mix dough: In a mixing bowl, combine seed powder, beetroot puree, jowar flour, pepper, garlic powder, salt, and oil. Mix until it forms a soft dough similar to chapati dough. (No water needed — beetroot moisture is enough.)
4. Roll out: Sprinkle sesame seeds on top of the dough, then roll it out thin — about nacho thickness.
5. Cut into desired shapes (squares, triangles, etc.).
6. Bake for 15–20 minutes until the edges turn golden brown.
7. Cool in oven: Turn off heat, leave the oven door slightly open, and let the crackers cool inside for extra crispness.
8. Store: Once completely cooled, transfer to an airtight container. Keeps up to 1 month at room temperature.
Tips for best results:
• Roll evenly to avoid soft spots.
• If your beetroot is very juicy, you might need a sprinkle of extra flour to keep the dough from being sticky.
