Breakfast With The Seals At The Cornish Seal Sanctuary

Описание: We take a trip to see the rescue seals at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary. The sanctuary is based in Gweek, about 35 minutes from where we were staying in St Ives.

We try the ‘Breakfast with the Seals’ experience which gets you in at 10am and gives you a private VIP tour of the sanctuary with a member of the team (thanks to our guide, Ellie).

It was a great insight into the work of the sanctuary and we highly recommend it.

The original sanctuary began rescuing seals in 1958 when the founder, Ken Jones, discovered a baby seal washed up on the beach. Since then the Cornish Seal Sanctuary has rescued more than 2000 seals.

Each year about 50 seals are rescued but with all the recent storms, the sanctuary have rescued more seal pups than ever before.

As well as seals, the sanctuary is also the permanent home to older seals who are unable to survive in the wild and Sea Lions rescued from zoos around Europe.
