In this video we upgrade our Surface Pro 3 from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 using the Media Creation Tool.
While we are using a Surface Pro 3, this procedure can be used on any computer. By using the Media Creation Tool we do not have to wait for our PC to download the updates with Windows Updates.
When you setup Windows 10 for the first time, I suggest you choose a LOCAL account. If you link your Microsoft account on the initial setup, your USER FOLDER gets a 5 character name assigned to it. This will be the first 5 characters of your email. So if your email is Jackson@ "ms account email" . com, your User Folder will be named "Jacks"
If you instead setup a Local account first, you can assign any name you want and when you switch to a Microsoft Account, your User Folder name will stay.
There are several ways to upgrade by using the Media Creation Tool, we are using the USB method.
