Описание: President Trump told Fox & Friends that the suspect for Charlie Kirk’s murder was under arrest, having been turned in “by somebody close to him.” The suspect, a man in his 20s, was taken into custody in St George, Utah, near Zion National Park, at about 11pm (6am BST) local time by local and state police, the New York Times reported, citing law enforcement sources.

“I think that with a high degree of certainty we have him in custody,” Trump said.

Authorities are pursuing leads and executing search warrants at addresses connected to the suspect, and are not releasing his name yet.

Trump continued, “Everyone did a great job … getting someone that you start off with absolutely nothing … and then all of a sudden you get lucky or talent, we’re in great shape.”

The president told Fox News: “It was a minister — involved with law enforcement — and his good friend is a top marshal and they took it from there.

“And his father got involved … and we have the person we think we’re looking for. They drove him to the police headquarters. The bottom line is that they have someone that they think did it.”

“I hope he gets the death penalty,” Trump added.

The right-wing activist was killed on Wednesday at an event on the Utah Valley University campus.
