Gregory Moore -- the 51-year-old man charged with murder in the 2013 death of Aliza Sherman in Cleveland -- has posted bond ahead of his trial which is slated to begin next year.
According to Moore's court docket, a $2 million surety bond was posted on Thursday.
The Cuyahoga County Clerk of Court and the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office told 3News that the only condition that was given to Moore as part of his bond request was an order that he have no contact with Sherman's family. There were no apparent restrictions on travel or firearms.
The prosecutor's office can file paperwork requesting new restrictions be added.
Moore's bond was set at $2 million after he was extradited from Texas back to Northeast Ohio in May on the following charges:
One count of aggravated murder
One count of conspiracy
Six counts of murder
Two counts of kidnapping
In the motion for bond, dated May 27, Moore's attorney Jon Paul Rion said that his client had been in Texas at his dying father's bedside when he was arrested.
"Importantly, it has never been a concern that Moore is a flight risk," Ryan wrote. "Moore has lived his entire life in the State of Ohio. He purchased his current residence with his wife in 2006, and has maintained that residence ever since."
During a brief court appearance last month, Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Kira Krivosh announced that Moore's trial is scheduled to start March 30, 2026.
He's due back in court next week for a pretrial conference at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9.
“The Sherman family has waited over a decade for answers regarding their mother’s homicide," said Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley in a previous press release. "Through the tenacious work of multiple law enforcement agencies, evidence was accumulated that paints the unmistakable picture that Gregory Moore orchestrated and participated in the brutal murder of Aliza Sherman."
