The PRIVACY SETTINGS is a simple but important screen. It's here that you set your site to be crawled and indexed by search engine robots, ping services and spiders.

Selecting the Allow box gives these services permission to index the site.

If you're setting up a new site and it's not ready to be indexed them selecting the "not to index" box will attempt to block these services from indexing the site.

This is not a guarantee that it will not be indexed but it's an option.

This settings will not block your site from public view. Visitors will still be able to see the site regardless of the privacy setting.

This settings also activates or deactivates the UPDATES SERVICES box under the SETTINGS WRITING screen that allows pings to be sent when changes are made to your site. Update services are covered in the Writing Settings video.

Remember to click the save changes button to save any changes to this screen.
