Today I created a test for Hanna & Gary so we had a great time to review all lessons about numbers and related useful topics such as days, date, months and Thai calendar.

I forgot to record our conversation at the beginning. They always make me feel amazed by their Thai improved skills every time we meet.

They spoke Thai more fluently and naturally from the last time we met. I tried to use Thai as much as I can. However, it I think I might use the words or sentences they might not have learnt yet, I would speak English instead. So now we use Thai 70-80% which is pretty good.

And I also speak English with Thai accent. This happens every time when I teach Thai because I want my students to get familiar with it. It's the way most Thai people do when speak English and it can help switch their brains to Thai more.

They have the right tones when they say the words or sentences they use more often. The new or unfamiliar ones may need time to read correctly. That's very normal and they will surely get better and better when they practice reading on Saturday classes with me.

They go quite fast because they always review lessons before each class. It was like that this time too.

They even told me in a chat that they started to dream seeing and hearing themselves speaking Thai which I told them before that when one starts to dream about speaking the language he/she is learning, it's a very big milestone because it shows that the neurons of the new language have been wired strongly enough and it's merged into the subconscious like a baby learns a mother tongue already. I was so glad when they told me this. It's been 6 months for them learning Thai. It's quite the same amount of time I used for practice listening & speaking English and I saw the result. So, I'm very confident with my teaching method now.

My part is 50% and their part is 50%. Together, it becomes their progress and success.

I like the way they practice together everyday and Gary always encourages and helps Hanna. This is the main benefits of having a partner to learn a new language with. It will be more fun and encouraging. The result comes faster when we can laugh altogether.

Teaching Thai to Hanna & Gary gives me so much positive energy as a teacher and a friend.

From Hanna & Gary's progress so far, I'd like to summarize that;
1. Everyday and immersive practice in real life is the key action for success.
2. Being able to read Thai scripts is very helpful to read and understand new words.
3. Lessons created based on learners' interest and practical usage in real life can accelerate the learning process.

Thai language is challenging but it's not too hard if you really practice. Start with what you really use. Dare to speak it in real life, learn from the mistakes and improve all the time. Speaking a language is not about being perfect, but to make people understand us and achieve our purpose(s) in the communication. That's my point of view.

I accept very limited students per week and month because I want to provide high quality and energy for each session I teach.

For me, teaching is not just about teaching, it's about transferring good energy so that my students will enjoy and be encouraged and have fun with me. Learning with fun always works so well! It activates the brains and mind to learn and absorb much faster!
