Kyoto in Search of MATCHA Green Tea + Kiyomizu-dera Temple

Описание: We spent a day in search of matcha green tea flavored foods and drinks in Kyoto, Japan! We started off with lunch at Nakamura Tokichi in Uji. The one-hour-wait was difficult for the kids, but it was worth it! ⬇️

George ordered a traditional rice dish. I got matcha flavored buckwheat soba noodles. Kaisho ordered Inari soba. We rounded off the meal with two delicious desserts - shave ice with matcha and hōjicha roasted tea sauces and a traditional matcha jelly dessert that was topped with matcha ice cream.

After the wonderful meal we hopped on the train and then hiked up a hill to Kiyomizu-dera Temple. A main portion of the temple was under renovation, but the view from Kiyomizu was still amazing! After soaking in the view we headed down the walking street. Many of the shops were already closed, but we found an open shop where Kaisho and I shared a chocolate matcha latte and George had a matcha tea with mochi.

FYI: Letting kids eat matcha right before bedtime is not a very good idea. We already knew that, but it was Matcha Day!
