“Smart” Step Technology. The Amp Research PowerStep is an automatic electric running board that automatically extends when the door is opened and then retracts once the door is closed back up. It is a neat solution for 2007-2017 4 Door JK Wrangler owners that want the practicality of a low mounted step bar but do not want to sacrifice ground clearance. The low profile design of the PowerStep fits in nicely with the side profile of the Jeep when it is retracted and the non-skid black powder coat finish matches nicely with other exterior trim. Additionally, each PowerStep integrates an LED light that automatically turns on when the step bar extends and is very helpful to illuminate the step bar and ground at night. A nice and functional aesthetic upgrade, the PowerStep is not intended for off-road use.

All Weather Usage. Made from anodized aluminum, the PowerStep is lightweight, strong and is not susceptible to rust. Industrial grade electric motors power this running board and are properly sealed to survive the gritty life of being mounted on the undercarriage.

Drilling, Electrical Wiring Required. Installation of an Amp Research Powerstep can be done at home but it is not recommended for beginners. A few extra mounting holes will need to be drilled into the pinch seam to properly mount the motors and brackets and additionally, some electrical wiring will need to be done to properly integrate the sidestep motors. If you are going to tackle this job yourself, you can expect to spend approximately 4 hours from start to finish.
