Paramo Velez Adventure Trousers Review | Scrambling & Backpacking with Trailkraft

Andy from Trailkraft took them straight into the heart of the Scottish Highlands—scrambling on the legendary Cuillin Ridge and backpacking through the wild southern Cairngorms.

These trousers proved to be seriously capable mountain companions, especially in colder conditions like late autumn and early spring. On Skye’s Cuillin, climbing Sgurr Alasdair, they excelled. The venting zip made the tough ascent of the Great Stone Chute more comfortable, while the breathable, stretchy fabric never held Andy back on the technical moves.

On a multi-day backpacking trip through the southern Cairngorms in March, they faced colder, wetter weather. The trousers held their own, shedding water well and staying comfortable even when starting to wet out—a solid performance in tough conditions.

It’s exciting to see Paramo stepping into the soft shell world. The fabric shows real promise, and if it’s anything like their other materials, the long-term durability should be excellent. We’re keen to see what’s next!
