Описание: Cap Blanc Nez (white promontory in English) is a town located on the Côte d'Opale, in the French department of Pas-de-Calais, in northern France. It is in fact a vast area overlooking the North Sea with white cliffs that are over 100 meters high that drop sheer to the sandy beaches. In particularly favorable weather conditions you can see the white cliffs of Dover in England, which are about forty kilometers from Cap Blanc Nez, very similar to the French cliffs. Together with Cap Gris-Nez it constitutes the so-called Site des deux Caps (site of the two promontories, in English). The surrounding landscape is particularly bucolic and I love the paths that run along the cliff. I got a very melancholic feeling from this place: it is the beauty of nature that ends sheer in the sea, leaving space for wide beaches when the tide retreats and for the water when it rises up to just below the precipice. This place is very reminiscent of a "finis terrae", perhaps more psychological than dictated by the territory. The rational and bucolic world of the French coasts ends abruptly in the North Sea, overlooking another world that instead seems like the perfect metaphor for the subconscious, which periodically re-emerges from its submerged world every time the tide retreats. This video is an animated representation to express this particular perceptions. I have also visited other places that have given me similar sensations, such as Santa Maria di Leuca (in Puglia, IT), or Cabo Da Roca (the westernmost point of Europe). But Cap Blanc Nez is definitely the one where the keyboard ends and I write music to play the last note, the highest. Beyond that note, however wonderful, it is not possible to go. "Shore Whispers" is a collection of some of my most beautiful piano songs. They are all inspired by the sea, which is the central theme. All coasts tell stories, stories of seafarers, but also land people who live near the sea. So the high cliffs reflect the echoes of the voices of those who live in the villages along the coast, the echoes of the waves and of the sailors who go out to sea. They tell stories of departures and new arrivals. Of farewells and unexpected reunions. Of ancestral whispers inside shells and in hidden caves where men have settled since the dawn of time. Of curiosity, necessity and adventure at the mercy of the waves. And when a river flows inland it brings these whispers right into the metropolis, just like the trunk of a tree brings sap to all its most distant branches and leaves. The water flows towards the sea, while the stories flow towards the land. Just be silent in your mind and listen!
