👁 About this video : Today I explain 5 things you should never do in a manual transmission vehicle. Driving a manual car is a lot of fun! It's a very engaging driving experience! This Civic Type R has a 6 speed manual and it's a fun turbo car to drive. If you own a manual car, you'll want to prolong the life of your clutch and transmission to avoid costly repairs over time. While these things wont destroy the transmission in a week, over the life of the car it's wise to practice good habits to prolong the car as long as possible. 1. When on a hill, use your brake pedal to hold the car when stopped in traffic. Rocking back and forth by engaging the clutch and disengaging the clutch is annoying and is slipping the clutch causing wear. Not need to do that and it looks stupid. 2. don't rest your hand on the shifter and foot on the clutch. You could accidentally pops out of gear, or put some strain on the shift forks in the transmission. Also your foot could be pressing on the clutch and slightly opening it and slipping the clutch. 3. Have smooth downshifts. Don't just put the transmission in a lower gear and let the clutch off quickly. That'll be an abrupt downshift which is annoying. Also it puts strain on the tranmission, clutch and engine. Practice rev matching your downshifts and doing smooth downshifts to better prolong the life of your car. Makes you a better driver especially in performance settings. 4. When at a stop light for several minutes. Leave it in neutral and just keep your foot on the brake. Holding the clutch the entire time while you're in gear is annoying and will tire your leg out. Also your expanding the clutch spring (throw out bearing) and it's getting some extra wear not needed. If it's a quick stop, it's fine. But when you have multiple cars behind you and in front at a 5 minute light. Just go to neutral. 5. When parking your manual car, leave it in gear. However, always apply the parking brake first, then just off the engine, then realize the clutch pedal and foot brake. That way the weight of the car in on the E-Brake and not on the transmission.
