"Brian Sklar born:- June 13, 1950 - Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Brian Sklar has proven to be one of the most versatile and influential entertainers on the Canadian country music scene. During his career he has performed and recorded as a solo artist, and has headed-up numerous bands including the traditional country group Brian Sklar & Prairie Fire, as well as the stage bands, The Canadian Club Entertainers, The Western Senators (which also featured Canadian Grammy award-winner Walter Ostanek), and more recently The Tex Pistols. Sklar was also the Musical Director for the Blake Emmons-hosted TV series "Funny Farm"; and he hosted and produced the popular TV series "No.1 West", aired across Western Canada from 1986-1993. As a recording artist Brian Sklar released several vinyl Lp's during the 1970's-80's including the 1971 "Proudly Canadian - Proudly Country" album on Royalty Records (R-20004); the 1975 "Reflections Of A Fool" Lp on Condor Records (977-1453); and "Brian Sklar & Prairie Fire" released in 1985 on Sunshine Records (SSLP-4077). There was also a "Prairie Fire" album on the Maple Haze label (MH7848) released circa 1978. There were numerous singles pulled from these albums with chart successes coming mostly from singles issued on the Uptown Records label. Brian Sklar charted solo singles in 1989-90 with the releases "57" (#41/1989); "It Won't Be Long" (#30/1989) and "Hell Or Houston (#35/1990). Earlier, in 1983 there were three singles on Uptown Records under the name Brian Sklar & Prairie Fire, that earned national charting. Brian Sklar's many bands have been stepping stones for Canadian musicians who paid their dues performing and touring with Sklar and then moving on to become band members for some of Nashville's top touring acts...the list includes Donny Parenteau who was a long-time member of Neal McCoy's band; Rod Janzen who is a member of Dierks Bentley's tour and recording band; Randle Currie who was a long-time member of Brad Paisley's band and Redd Volkaert who played behind Clinton Gregory and was a member of Merle Haggard's tour band "The Strangers"."
