Every day, women and girls in sub-Suharan Africa walk an average of six kilometers to fetch water, often from unsafe sources. This journey is exhausting, dangerous, and keeps young girls out of school. But at Innovation: Africa, female engineers are using solar-powered technology to change that.
With solar-powered water pumps, clean water is now accessible directly in villages, reducing disease, improving health, and giving women and girls their time and safety back. Innovation: Africa ensures sustainability by training local engineers and using real-time monitoring systems to keep the water flowing.
Women in STEM are breaking barriers across Africa. With 80 percent of the continent’s engineering workforce being male, these female engineers are proving that engineering isn’t just for men—it’s about saving lives and building a better future.
Innovation: Africa is a non-profit working across rural communities to bring clean water where it’s needed most. This mission is transforming lives, one village at a time.
