Good teachers ask students to focus on pursuing OBJECTIVES (using verbs, actions, intentions, motivations). For example: "Get your scene partner to give you the money." "Make the other character fall in love with you." "Belittle him in front of all his friends." "Flatter her until she gives you what you want."

Bad teachers get them to focus on faking EMOTIONS (using adjectives, mugging, facial expressions). For example: "Be more scared here." "Try smiling more." "Cry when you say that line." "Can you give us a more dreamy quality?"
