Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has called for a ban on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), linking it to widespread law and order issues in India. Speaking at a Delhi press conference, Kharge said most problems arise due to the BJP-RSS nexus and emphasized that criticizing the RSS often invites attacks. He cited historical evidence, including Sardar Patel’s 1948 letter to Syama Prasad Mookerjee, noting the RSS’s alleged role in creating tensions following Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination. Kharge also accused the Modi government of distorting history and the legacy of national icons, criticizing the 2024 lifting of the 58-year-old ban on government employees participating in RSS activities. BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi responded, asserting that no power can ban the RSS.
