Join me on a peaceful 5-mile nature walk in Lincolnshire, starting in the village of Marston. This hike has local history, beautiful countryside views and plenty of wildlife—perfect for relaxation, mindfulness and outdoor inspiration.
I begin by exploring Marston village, and spot the old manor house, the Victorian village school, and St Mary’s Church, which has deep connections to the Thorold family.
The route continues to Hougham, where I visit a scenic weir, Hougham Manor, and the lovely All Saints’ Church. Along the way, I discovered a touching memorial of a WW2 plane crash from 13th November 1942.
Following the River Witham, I encounter swans, birds, and even deer as I walked alongside this peaceful waterway. I stop for lunch overlooking a tributary of the Witham—sun on my face, nature all around.
The hike ends with a tranquil section of the Viking Way, one of Lincolnshire’s best-loved long-distance trails.
If you enjoy relaxing walks, nature sounds or exploring English villages this one may be for you.
