Most Rev. George Desmond Tambala OCD was appointed Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe on 15 October 2021 and was installed on 27th November 2021.
Archbishop George Desmond Tambala was installed Archbishop of Lilongwe from the Catholic Diocese of Zomba in the Ecclesiastical Province of Blantyre after the demise of Archbishop Tarcisius Gervazio Ziyaye who died in Namibia on 14th December 2020 where he had gone for treatment.
