PROJECT STEPS
1. You are a marketing assistant for Mountain Tours, an adventure tours company based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Kerry Buckland, the marketing manager, has asked you to organize a photography contest as part of the company's latest marketing campaign. Former guests are asked to enter a favorite photograph of a trip they've taken with Mountain Tours in a contest to win a free tour. You create a form that guests can complete to enter the contest. You have already added the basic content and now need to include elements to automate the document and increase its visual appeal.
Enable macros, if you are prompted, and then verify that the Macro Security setting disables all macros with notification. (Hint: If the Macro Security setting disables all macros without notification, select the "Disable all macros with notification" option, and then close the Project document without saving it. Perform the "Getting Started" steps again, saving a new copy of the Project document over the previous one.)
Copy the style named Tours from the template Support_WD365_EOM8-1_Styles.dotx to the Project document so that you can apply the style to the heading in an upcoming step.
2. Insert a Rectangle: Rounded Corners [MAC Hint: Rounded Rectangle], and then change the height to 1.3" and the width to 8.5" so that the shape spans the width of the page. Change the text wrapping to Square. Align the shape with the center and top of the page.
3. Type Mountain Tours Photography Contest in the shape to add a title to the document. Apply the Tours style to the text.
4. Change the fill color of the shape to Turquoise, Text 2, and then fill the shape with the Linear Down gradient in the Light Variations section of the Gradient gallery to add visual interest to the document.
5. Insert a Fill-in field at the end of each paragraph listed in Table 1 below. Include a prompt for each Fill-in field as shown in bold in Table 1. Do not enter any sample text when prompted.
Table 1: Form Fill-in Fields
Paragraph Prompt
Your Name: Enter your name
Your Email Address: Enter your email address
Tour Name: Enter the name of the tour you took
Photo Filename: Enter the filename of your photograph
6. Add a custom paragraph border below the text "Photo Filename:". Select the uneven dashed border (the fifth style in the Style list), the Turquoise, Text 2 color [MAC Hint: First row, seventh column from the right in the Theme Colors palette], and the 1½ pt width.
7. Copy the placeholder text "[Complete Contest Details]" and paste it in the first blank line below the text, then translate the text into French as a courtesy to French-speaking customers. Copy and paste the French text to the next blank line. Translate the same text into Japanese because a significant percentage of Mountain Tours guests are Japanese.
8. Fill the shape at the bottom of the page with the picture in the file Support_WD365_EOM8-1_Mountains.jpg. Compress the picture to E-mail (96 ppi) to reduce the size of the form file.
9. Add Contest as the Title document property to indicate the purpose of the document. Use the Custom tab in the document's Properties dialog box to add the "Checked by" custom property to the document. Use Kerry Buckland as the Checked by value to identify the marketing director who is in charge of judging the photography contest.
10. Copy the HeaderText macro from the template Support_WD365_EOM8-1_Header.dotm to the Project document. In the Project document, run the FormHeader macro to add text to the document header.
11. After the "Reviewed by" text in the header, insert a Quick Part as a DocProperty field using the Checked by custom property that you created in step 9 to insert Kerry Buckland's name in the header.
12. Add the text watermark DRAFT arranged diagonally across the page to indicate the document is being developed.
Your document should look like the Final Figure on the following pages. Save your changes, close the document, and then exit Word. Follow the directions on the website to submit your completed project.
