The Delhi High Court issued a strong warning to the Delhi Government over the growing conflict between shopkeepers and street vendors, observing that "the day is not far when there will be open fights on the streets" in areas such as Lajpat Nagar, Sarojini Nagar and Karol Bagh if the issue remains unresolved.

During the hearing, the Court questioned the fragmented civic administration in Delhi, remarking that agencies such as the NDMC and DDA ultimately function under the Delhi Government. It even suggested repealing multiple statutes and creating a single authority to administer the city.
