Lakeside Launchers Episode - 1 We finish building our backyard bike trail. Over the past weeks, me and my brother James have been building a mountain bike jump track in our backyard. In this video, we finish the overall path for this trail and make our berm bigger.
This is our jump trail, so far we have two jumps and a medium sized berm. This is our rock jump that we built. We made it with the slabs that we already had on our yard and made it blend in the the landscape. We decided to name it the rocker dropper. It is located in Knoxville Tennessee. We recently made a trip to Baker Creek Preserve and liked the trails a lot. It inspired us to build our own trails.
After the rock you have to go through some narrow trees and then into a small berm. We call it the sniper. After that, there is a step down jump called the tuber booter. Then, you ride a gap jump called the leafy launcher. Then our last feature is a massive berm called the darin drifter.
We had a problem, the berm was so sharp and steep that most mountain bikers could go around. So we decided to get back to work. We started to make the berm bigger so you could ride it with more and more speed. Then we had to shape it and smoothen it out with our flathead shovels.
James desperatly wanted to ride the berm but had to wait for it to dry. Tennessee dirt gets very sticky and muddy when it is wet. Once the berm was done, We started to carve out the path for the uphill section. It was very off-camber and rooty so we had a lot of work to do to smoothen out the mountain bike trail. Once we were done, we took it for a test ride and it was very good. The only problem is that we may need to build steps in the future for the uphill trail. That is all so goodbye
