In South Korea, resettled North Koreans can face prejudice and discrimination for their background. Some make a decision not to share their North Korean identity because of the weight it holds, both personal and as perceived by others. There are also North Koreans who share openly about where they're from, no different that people saying they were born in the US or another country.
In any case, we were very encouraged by the warm and welcoming perspectives of the South Koreans we interviewed!
