Описание: Across our state there are literally hundreds of low-head dams found on streams and rivers. You might recognize them as dams that were built to help power gristmills or to impound water for farm animals and irrigation. Today, though, many of these dams go unused and pose a deadly risk to those who are unaware of their dangers. Those dangers range from the disappearance of aquatic wildlife and the destruction of their habitat to deaths of people who get caught in their powerful undertow. As Wild Side Guide Alan Griggs reports, low-head dams are too often viewed as a novelty and not for the danger they pose.
