Stop Giving Grace to People Who Haven’t Earned It | Workplace & Beyond
Grace should be earned, not handed out like Pokémon cards. Yet Black people — especially Black women — are constantly conditioned to forgive, “turn the other cheek,” and let mistreatment slide in workplaces, in public spaces, and even in the face of violence.
In this video, I break down why it’s time to STOP giving grace to people who haven’t earned it:
• Taylor Townsend vs. Ostapenko — why she carried herself with grace when the other player didn’t
• The double standards that keep Black women from ever being allowed visible anger
• How the pressure to “be forgiving” shows up at work, even after discrimination and abuse
• The truth about documenting workplace mistreatment instead of ignoring it
• Dylann Roof’s Charleston church massacre and the demand for forgiveness — even in tragedy
✨ This is exactly why I created the AntiHR Documentation Journal — because employees, especially Black women, aren’t documenting workplace abuse effectively. Don’t give anyone grace when they’ve disrespected you. Document it, keep it, and use it when it matters most.
