Mosaic Crochet Butterfly Alley Design - Chart #3 -Multiple of 32+4 - Work Flat or In The Round 🦋

This pattern is worked in a MULTIPLE of 32 + 4. ROW START TIMES PROVIDED BELOW. IN THE ROUND IS WORKED BY ONLY CHAINING IN MULTIPLE OF 32. USE CHART 3 WITH THIS TUTORIAL.

TO REPEAT THE DESIGN FOR LARGER PROJECTS YOU WILL WORK ROWS 1 THRU 41 AND THEN WORK ROWS 2 THRU 41 AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WOULD LIKE FOR THE PROJECT YOU CHOOSE.

COLOR CHANGE: You can change color B at Row 2 to a new color when starting the repeat rows. Color A can be changed at Row 3, if desired.

PROJECTS:
Suggested starting chains for various projects - counts include +4 at end:
Baby blanket: 100 chains

Place mats: 68 chains

Table Runner: 68 chains for total width of table runner, you will then work the repeats to obtain the total length for your table.

Throw blanket : 164 chains

Tote or Throw Pillow: 68 to 100 chains depending on yarn size used and desired size, create 2 and seam together

Rug: 100 chains
Scarf: 36 chains depending on yarn size used and desired width. I recommend size 3 light weight yarn or smaller for garments. work until desired length

Shawl: 292 chains, you are working the total length, and will repeat the design until you reach the desired width

IN THE ROUND- Slip stitch to first chain and you must work into that first stitch following the repeat given in the video IN THE ROUND IS WORKED IN THE MULTIPLE ONLY, YOU DO NOT ADD 4 STITCHES TO CHAIN COUNT:

Makeup or Notions bag/ Clutch: 64 chains for small; 128 chains for large

Throw Pillow: 20" to 24" depending on yarn size used, tension and hook: chain 96

Large Project Bag or Tote: 192 chains for large tote/bag

Treat bags/Mini gift bags: 64 chains

Cowl: 128 chains

I recommend using the below hook sizes depending on yarn used:
3 DK yarn : 3.25mm to 4.5mm
Size 4 Medium/worsted weight: 4.5mm to 5mm
Mixing 3 & 4 weight: 3.5mm to 4.5mm

THE YARN: I'm using size 3 DK yarn, any brand will work as well as any size. I used during the video: Caron Skinny Cakes in Bluebells for color B; Color A is Special DK in Coral.

Color A is Stylecraft Special DK in Black.

Baby Blanket Sample: Color A is Lion Brand Mandala Baby in Acre Woods; Color B is Lion Brand Wool Ease DK Cakes in Meadow (discontinued yarn however Mandala has very similar colorways).

Note on mixing yarn sizes 3 (DK) & Size 4 (Medium Worsted weight): THE TRICK TO MIXING YARN SIZES IS JUST KEEPING YOUR TENSION EVEN AND USING THE SMALLEST SIZE HOOK RECOMMENDED FOR THE SMALLER YARN! You can use any yarn size you like and can use yarn that is all the same size, you do not have to mix yarn sizes.

Project info and starting:
To begin your project you will chain in multiples of 32 plus 4 at the end to work a flat piece. You will skip the first chain and begin working in the second chain from the hook, ending up with an odd number of stitches. EXAMPLE: I chained 36 and had 35 stitches at the end of my first Foundation Row FOR FLAT.

TO WORK IN THE ROUND: chain in multiples of 32 and slip stitch to the first chain. Begin working the repeat in the first stitch [same stitch you slip stitches into] and follow the Repeat as given in the video.
