Lanterns swing and candles glow,
Wind is singing soft and low.
Footsteps rattle, mugs collide,
It’s Halloween on the tavern side!

Hold your mugs, good folk, beware —
The graveyard’s sending guests tonight!
If you see bones begin to dance,
Don’t scream — just join them right!

Out from the ground the skellies came,
Clacking bones and sparks of flame.
They bowed to the moon, they grinned so wide,
And waltzed straight in with ghostly pride.
The chairs jumped back, the floorboards groaned,
The bard just laughed, “The dead have honed!”
The barkeep sighed, “Well, pour them ale!”
The night begins — no one will fail!

They rolled together, side by side,

No heart, no flesh, yet still they swayed —
For love in bones is never decayed.
