How would you describe the atmosphere at the Olympic competition sites?

The atmosphere inside the venues here in Milan is filled with anticipation and energy. As the athletes appear, the arena comes alive with applause. Italian fans bring passion and elegance, cheering loudly yet always with respect.
Before each race, there is a tense stillness, almost like a collective breath being held.
And when the starting signal sounds, that quiet tension quickly turns into powerful cheers and applause. When Korean athletes are introduced, Korean supporters rise to their feet, waving flags and chanting proudly. Local fans cheer for excellence, no matter the nationality.
The Korean presence inside the venues has been particularly strong.
Yoo Seung-min, President of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, along with Chef de Mission Lee Soo-kyung and other officials, have been attending events to support the athletes.
Among those in attendance were former football star Park Ji-sung, singer Sandara Park, and actor Park Bo-gum, drawing noticeable attention in the stands.
Their presence has added another layer of pride for Team Korea here in Milan.
Even in Verona, anticipation is building ahead of the closing ceremony at Arena di Verona. Even there, a quiet anticipation is already building as the Games draw to a close.

2. Beyond the competitions, a range of cultural events is taking place as well.
How strong is the Korean presence there?

Beyond the competitions, the Korean presence has been remarkably strong, particularly around Korea House in Villa Necchi Campiglio in Milan, one of Milan’s historic landmarks. Jointly operated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, Korea House has emerged as a vibrant cultural hub during the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games.
From traditional performances to interactive cultural programmes, it offers visitors a genuine glimpse into Korea’s heritage and culture. Korean supporters gather not only to celebrate victories, but to share food, music, and stories with international guests.
What is especially touching is the reaction from local Italians. Their interest was naturally drawn to the traditional Korean attire. During the events, I was wearing a traditional hanbok, with my hair styled in a classic binyeo. Curious passers-by stopped to ask questions and take photos, and later visited Korea House.
Many have expressed genuine interest, often staying long after the programs to explore Korean traditions more deeply. It has gone far beyond simple promotion — it truly feels like meaningful cultural exchange in action.

3. We still have a few more days to compete and look forward to.
Where might we see strong medal prospects for Team Korea?

Looking ahead, several key events remain that could prove decisive for Team Korea.
Short track and figure skating continue to offer strong medal prospects, along with final rounds in snowboarding and speed skating.
