I had a blast making a clip for this odd extended remix / mash up, which I have no idea how it came into my collection. It was another mp3 i found on this USB stick that has hundreds of retro gems and extended mixes. It is 40 years since the mighty kick ass 'I Love Rock & Roll' by Joan Jett and The Blackhearts entered the Aussie chart and charging all the way to the top spot as it had done in America. Spending 5 weeks at #1 and 11 weeks in the Top 10, it was the 7th best seller downunder in 1982. I had mistakenly always thought it was a Joan Jett original or at least one of the Blackhearts the composer, but not so - it was recorded 6 years earlier by The Arrows, a British act. It was written by Alan Merrill and Jake Hooker, but it was Joan's unforgettable vocal that made this song an anthem and 40 years on it still kicks butt big time! This Ultimix/Mash Up = also uses Queen ('We Will Rock You'), Lynyrd Skynyrd ('Sweet Home Alabama') and Billy Squier ('The Stroke') and John Cougar Mellencamp ('Jack & Diane').
I hope this brings back good memories of the early 1980's (and the 70's for Sweet Home Alabama fans).
