Charm is often described as a desirable trait in relationships. For many people, it signals warmth, ease, and emotional availability.
For others, charm triggers an immediate sense of caution.
In this video, I unpack why that reaction makes sense.
I share a personal moment that surprised me while watching an interview with Alison Armstrong, and why my body reacted so strongly when charm was named as a relationship asset.
• We explore the difference between healthy charm and superficial charm.
• We look at why superficial charm can feel like a betrayal.
• We talk about how our brains build models of people and why violations of those models are so destabilizing.
I also speak openly about my own experiences being pulled in by charm and why discernment matters, especially if you have been harmed before.
This video is for you if:
• You feel uneasy around very charming people
• You have been confused by relationships that looked safe at first
• You struggle to trust your instincts after betrayal
• You want to understand the difference between connection and performance
This is not about becoming guarded or cynical.
It is about learning how not to betray yourself.
